NOTICE OF APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITY
 
Steubenville Electrical Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee
 
   The applicants must reside within the jurisdictional area of IBEW Local Union 246. This includes Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison and Jefferson Counties in Ohio and Brooke and Hancock Counties in West Virginia.
 
This committee will accept applications for apprenticeship training beginning 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. & 1:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. on the following days and dates:
 
                        Monday—February 28, 2011             Monday—March 7, 2011
                        Wednesday—March 2, 2011              Wednesday—March 9, 2011
                        Thursday—March 3, 2011                  Thursday—March10, 2011
                        Friday—March 4, 2011                      Friday—March 11, 2011
 
                        Also on the following dates beginning at 12:00 P.M. Until 8:00 P.M.
 
                        Tuesday—March 1, 2011                   Tuesday—March 8, 2011
 
The applications will be taken at the J.A.T.C. Building, which is located in the rear of the I.B.E.W. Building at 626 N. 4th Street, Steubenville, Ohio.
 
ALL APPLICANTS MUST FULLY MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age no later than June 30, 2011.
 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
 
 
  • Must be a High School graduate or have a GED. Completed by June 30, 2011.
Applicants must provide official transcripts of High School and post High School showing courses and grades. All paperwork must be returned by March 22, 2011.
 
  • Minimum math – must have completed one full year of High School Algebra with a passing grade or one post High School Algebra course with a passing grade or a passing score on the NJATC Tech Math Course, available online at www.NJATC.org.
 
  • Applicants will be required to pass a qualifying NJATC/AIR test as given by the National Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee.
 
  • Applicants must be physically capable of performing the work of the trade.
 
  • Applicants must reside or have been a resident of the area of the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee’s jurisdiction for at least 12 months prior to applying.
 
  • Qualified applicants will be required to participate in an aptitude examination to be given at Eastern Gateway Community College, Steubenville Branch, on April 15, 2011, Room 2200 beginning promptly at 9:00 A.M.
 
  • Applicants will be charged a $35.00 non-refundable application fee.
 
Applications will be selected on the basis of qualification alone without regard to race, creed, color or national origin in accordance with the objective standards.
 
Applicants must meet all basic requirements to be eligible for interview. Apprentice will be selected in order of their ranking resulting from rating of interviewers and those selected must pass a drug screening test and criminal background check.
 
This is not an application for employment. Those applicants that are accepted into the Training Program will begin their five-year school training in the fall, which will include classroom training in night and weekend school and on-the-job training as employment becomes available.
