WHAT HE DOES:
The Boilermaker is a construction mechanic who is skilled in the areas of welding, acetylene burning, fitting up, grinding, reaming and impact machine operating. He repairs and installs boilers at job sites.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Age – minimum 18 years
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Physically able to perform the work of the trade
- Indicate interest, desire and willingness to learn
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOINT APPRENTICESHIP COMMITTEE:
- Physical examination
- High school transcript
- Participate in an oral interview
- Birth certificate
TERMS OF APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING:
- Length of Indentureship – 4 years
- Minimum hours of related classroom instruction – 144 hours each year
- Indentured to the Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee
